Outline

Setting:
A golden apple tree in a Russian mythological forest
Basing the film on the Russian tale of the Phoenix and the Golden apple, the film will have a Russian-like style, I'm looking into Russian art and architecture to base my designs and colour on.


Characters:
Reuben: An old bird that looks very care-worn and brittle he has chosen his place and time to die.
Eccentric, kindly, introverted, old, wise, calm, agreeable, unmotivated, relaxed
Paval: A young bird that has just begun to live, Paval is the epitome of new and young. He has no place in the world and is a free spirit coming and going with the breeze. His is a common crow and wants to stand out in the world, he also firmly believes that he does.
Young, naive, cool, panicky, high-stress, neurotic, disagreeable, conscientious


Objectives:
Reuben: To burn
Paval: to save the egg


Motives:
Reuben: he's tired of his current age and life and wants to start again
Paval: he wants to be unique and he wants to be seen as something greater than he is


Conflict:
Reuben ignites, scaring Paval and then Paval is motivated by his desire to be seen as the hero to save the egg.
Circumstance


Obstacles:
Fire burns and he is afraid so he can't save Reuben. When the egg is falling he can chase it but he can't catch it and fly so it may break.


Crisis:
The egg chase, Paval must save the egg and then the egg begins to break making Paval think he has lost.


Suspense:
Will he get the egg before it breaks? Was it all for nothing when the egg cracks?


Resolution:
The egg breaks open and the beautiful phoenix emerges where once there was the old dying bird. Paval realizes that he wants to change and become great and distinct too. But for his presumption he is punished and is taught his lesson that he is fine the way he is and he should accept change when his time comes but not before.
